Cool Online Find: True Jeans

"I'm lookin' for a dime that's top of the line/Cute face slim waist wit a big behind..."--Ying Yang Twins, 'Badd'
Happy Monday!
I had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. Makes it hard to come to work, but I digress.
Reader Monique sent an e-mail titled 'Frustrated with Finding Jeans.'

She says:
"I have a dilemma: I am a relatively small size...5’7" with a bottom that my mother has so graciously blessed me with. My hips are about 41 inches and my waist is about 28 ½ inches. So you can see the dilemma I have with finding jeans...I used to have like 20 pairs while in under grad, and now I have 3! I would love to buy some skinny legged jeans that compliment my body but every time I find a pair they look odd with my hips. I gave up thinking they could possibly look good on my new curvaceous body. So now I'm here to ask you to help me out! I need a few options for cute designer jeans that fit a girl with booty and hips."
Well Monique, you're in luck. With a little searching, I found an online boutique called True Jeans (www.truejeans.com).

They specialize in finding jeans for women based on their measurements and body type. Basically you input your height, weight, inseam, waist, shape--even the size of your butt, thighs, and belly--and they find you the perfect fit!

I subbed in my approximations of Monique's measurements, and found over 20 jeans options from designer brands like Blue Cult, William Rast, and Kasil. I picked out 4 jeans in various styles: skinny, capri, trouser, and straight legged:

Top Row: 575 Denim Parliment, $220; Penny 'It' Jeans in Midnight, $54.
Bottom Row: Little in the Middle Jeans Basic, $79; Red Engine Straight Leg Jeans, $154.
All available at www.truejeans.com
What's cool is that the website also suggests what size to buy based on the brand and your measurements. So for the 575 Jeans, they recommend a size 31, while with the Little in the Middle Jeans they recommend a size 8. [A note about the new brand 'Little in the Middle,': they're cut one size larger in the hips than the waist! Perfect for women with Monique's body type.]
If you find yourself frustrated with searching for jeans in department stores, give True Jeans a try!

PS Boutique Finesse' One Year Anniversary party was so much fun! I was strapped down with a Polaroid, so I could only take a few digital pictures:

But trust me, it was a good time, and great to hang out with the girls from Hourglass Events and the B Life. Check out the B Life Blog for more pictures...and stay tuned for our next event!

Friday Mail + Sales + Randomness

Hey Guys!
Well, blame it on my glamorous life (or laziness!), but I only had time to answer one lonely mail bomb this week...

...so let's get to it.
Rachel from Massachusetts asks:
"I have a question on a dress. I have seen it worn by Kelis...

... and Paula Patton....

...and I want to know - who is the designer? I hope you can give me some info!"
Well, Rachel, you have great taste. The metallic embellished mod shift is part of Gucci's Spring 2007 Ready to wear collection...

...available for an arm and a leg at Gucci stores.
If you still want the look and have a bit of money to spend, this $283 AKA New York Empire Shift Dress is available at shopbop.com

It has similar proportions, and the brocade detail gives off a bit of shine.
If that's out of your price range, this $62 Velvet Torch Lace Mini Frock from www.nordstrom.com could work as well...

...It's short and cute, and the lace can somewhat substitute for the metallic studs and embellishments. Pair this with some hot heels, and you're good to go!
Smootches!

Style File: Eve

"I know you seen me this night that night, always my fit tight/Hair done, outfit crazy, skirts fit just right/ Wife beater with a bangin tan/ Walk in demandin all eyes baby here I am..." Eve feat. Alicia Keys, Gangsta Lovin
So for this week's style file, I decided to cover rapper, former Ruff Ryder, and now crash victim and DUI suspect...

Eve!
Yup that’s right. According to TMZ.com she was arrested *this morning* for a DUI! Apparently she crashed her gold Maserati and was then taken in under suspicion of driving under the influence.
Thankfully bad girls are still fly...
She certainly exemplifies femininity with an urban, almost criminal edge...and keeps it sexy whether she's sporting casual or cocktail wear.
For low key non alchoholic nights out, Eve tops skinny jeans and stilettos with everything from t-shirts...

...to fitted jackets...

...in sophisticated grays, blacks, and whites.
While her downtime style is tight, she really shines in red carpet dresses characterized by assymetrical, gathered cuts...

...grecian goddess details...

...and high hem lines...

Hot.
Cop her evening style with the following splurges and steals:

Top Row: Only Hearts Smocked Mini Dress, $152, www.bloomingdales.com; Rachel Roy Asymmetrical Jersey Dress, $640, www.net-a-porter.com.
Bottom Row: Liquid Jersey Dress in Mist, $282, CoutureCandy
Bubble Mini Dress, $130, www.armaniexchange.com.
Now let's hope she beats that case. (Update: TMZ has confirmed that Eve posted bail and was released from Los Angeles County Jail.)
Smootches!
PS On a more positive note, is anyone else really feeling Eve in Kelly Rowland's new song 'Like This'? Haven't heard it? Here's the video:

I love it!

Fashion with Compassion + TFB's Next Event!

"The only rule is don't be boring and dress cute wherever you go. Life is too short to blend in.”--Paris Hilton
Hey Y'all,
So I received an invite to an event last night called 'Fashion with Compassion'...

...hosted by fabulous former Vibe, Essence, and Honey mag editor Michaela Angela Davis. The goal of the evening was to mingle with fellow urban fashionistas while shopping for shoes (with a portion of the sale proceeds going towards Black Girls Rock Inc, a non profit mentoring organization for teenage women of color). Shoes? Fashion? Mingling? Sounded right up my alley, so after work, I made my way over to Te Casan in Soho...

...to see what was what.
The gathering was already in full swing with people shopping...

...chatting...

...and socializing....

...with drinks in hand.
Of course I had to scout the room for fashionable folk, and the partygoers did not disappoint!

Najwa Moses of the hot blog Styleaholics was in the house looking pretty in pink and black.

Graphic prints and footless tights worked for the young lady on the left, while diva on the right exudes class in a smart jacket and updo.

The epitome of casual chic? A Yankees fitted, skinny jeans, and Pro-Keds.

A tailored jacket and fun t-shirt complement this stylist's caramel colored boots and matching satchel.

The flowy top and ground grazing dress of this pair show that hot graphic prints are the 'it' trend this spring.

These two mixed urban edge with classic pieces. Check out homegirl's fierce Chanel bag paired with a t-shirt, jeans, and cap.

This young lady's sophisticated office outfit is instantly sassified with deep blue patent leather peep toes.

And these two were dapper, and utterly stylish. Where were they last week??

Anyway, I had a great time meeting a few more of NYC's finest fashionistas! I also had the distinct pleasure of chatting with Michaela (such a sweetheart!) who told me Honey Magazine...

...is coming back full force. Check out www.honeymag.com for particulars. Now, would you be down for a re-up? Do you miss Honey like you miss Suede?
Let me know!
Smootches!

Travel in Style + Contest Winner

"One day we on the Autobahn swervin drivin/ Next day we in the sun on the Virgin Islands/ If you wit me ain't no time to sleep/ 'Specially at Wet Willy's on Miami Beach."--Ludacris, 'Pimpin all Over the World.'

Happy Tuesday!
Isn't the weather just gorgeous!?! Yesterday I spent my lunch break luxuriating outside, feeling the sun. The fabulous weather made me start thinking about my spring and summer travel plans. I only have one trip planned to Abaco, Bahamas...

...for August, but I'm seriously contemplating a quick trip to London...

...and Paris...

...for next month.
And of course I can't go anywhere without keeping it super stylish!
Right now my suitcase arsenal includes a sad green carry on and an even sadder, plain black rolly bag (with a pathetic red ribbon tied on the top to distinguish it from the scores of other large black rolly bags).
I want stylish, chic, yet functional luggage for my summer travels...and doing a quick search, I found quite a few gems:

Top Row: Diane Von Furstenberg 21" Carry On, $160, www.1800luggage.com; Sunspot Travel Case, $348, www.anthropologie.com; Tommy Hilfiger Luggage Classics 27" Expandable Upright, $180, www.ebags.com.
Middle Row: Wendy Roll Bag, $220, www.flight001.com; Samsonite X'ion Boarding Bag, $85, www.ebags.com; Capri ML Traveler, $78, www.flight001.com.
Bottom Row: Diane Von Furstenberg Hearts Collection 21" Expandable Carry-On Upright, $170, www.ebags.com; Loop Printed Canvas Weekender, $50, www.urbn.com; Pierre Cardin Juno Unisex Lightweight Luggage Set, $150, www.luggageguy.com.
While some of those bags cost the price of a plane ticket to Europe, I'm sure the investment is worth it. And you have the added protection against luggage mix ups.
Happy Trails!
So finally! The winner of the Nautica N Series Straight Leg Jeans is none other than...

....Edwin! He received the most unique votes.
About his style, readers said:

"Edwin’s style embodies hip-hop chicness to the fullest. He should definitely win the Fashionable Contest for his creative sense of style and eclectic ensembles."

"Edwin is crazy fly. and the fact that he's only 16...seals it."

“I have to go with Edwin. He definitely has a unique sense of self to be 16 and so fly. Plus he's adorable and I love the Pharell vibe.”

"I have to vote Edwin because his style is so funky and out there. I like his creativity and the color he brings out."

"Edwin...You gotta give it up to a young'n doing it up like that!"

Congrats Edwin! E-mail me at thefashionbomb@gmail.com
with your measurements and address.
Have great days!

Boston Style + Fashionable Male Tie Breaker

Hey Guys!
So I'm back from Boston, and totally exhausted! The Fashion Show was a lot more scandalous than I remember it being back when I walked the catwalk. I was so distracted (and my seats so far away), that I couldn't catch any pictures of the actual show...but I did manage to snap a couple pix from the crowd during intermission. I think what I caught well displayed the do's and don'ts of summer attire.
DO wear figure flattering dresses....

...in bold, bright graphic prints.
DON'T ever...

...match your hair to your outfit, or wear golds as an accessory. Just Say No!
Moving along...
The Fashionable Male contest solicited many spirited response from readers. And now there seems to be a bit of a tie between...

Mr. Michael Schuler of Skyline Boutique in Austin, Texas (www.skyline360.com)...
And 16 year old stunner...

....Edwin.
Leave comments again to let me know who should win!
And in the meantime, thanks for all the submissions! The Fashion Bomb would be nothing without your participation.
Smootches!
